Dr Lawrie has recently published his work on arthroscopic medial meniscal root repairs. This paper describes Dr Lawrie’s surgical technique and results which compare favourably to other articles on the surgical repair of these important injuries. This is the first paper to present the MRI findings over time with regards to bone marrow oedema and also to outline the benefit of surgical repair even in patients with advanced cartilage injury. Prior to this paper advanced cartilage injury was considered a relative contra-indication to medial meniscal root repair. Many thanks to recently graduated Dr Nathan Hopkins for his excellent work in preparing the paper for publication.
