Sports injuries comprise a major part of this practice. Early diagnosis and management result in the best possible outcome for the patient. A team approach is also very important and Dr Lawrie will liaise with your physical therapist, GP, sports physician etc to produce a treatment plan with the best possible outcome for each patient. Early assessment is crucial and sessions are reserved on Monday and Tuesday of each week for the rapid assessment of all sporting injuries. Dr Lawrie specialises in surgical and non-surgical management of diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system, bones, tendons and muscles. He has a special interest in sports injuries and reconstructive surgery of the knee, as well as advanced techniques in joint replacement surgery and revision joint replacement surgery of the hip and knee.

Minimally Invasive Surgery

Minimally invasive surgery or keyhole surgery (as the name suggests) involves performing surgery through a smaller incision than what has been done previously. For some operations, this is quite controversial and the risks and benefits are not well understood. For other types of surgery, keyhole surgery is the norm and it would be very unusual for surgery to be performed in any other manner. i.e: keyhole surgery of the knee Arthroscopy is very much the routine approach for many conditions in the knee and it would be rarely considered to approach this in any other way
