As Part of the Child Health Integrated Care Project Dr Lawrie spoke at the GP Paediatric Masterclass meeting on contemporary issues in paediatric knee injuries. This was a very successful meeting at the new auditorium at the Sunshine Coast Health Institute on saturday the 21st of October. Dr Lawrie discussed the so called “epidemic” of adolescent ACL injuries, current treatments, preventative strategies such as the FIFA 11+ programme and new techniques on the horizon. He discussed the concept of customised ACL surgery including ACL repair and emphasised the importance of preserving the meniscus. Other topics include contemporary management of patella dislocation including Dr Lawrie’s previously presented results of MPFL repair, fracture management and Osteochondritis Dessicans treatment.
